Kate's Monthly Take - June 2019

I’m the type of person who doesn’t relax easily until things are in order. Having three kids has helped me to ease up a bit because there just aren’t enough hours in the day but I truly do not feel free until I’m organized. Summer Break started last week and I feel like I’m behind as we haven’t developed our summer reading lists or a bucket list of activities. It’s almost July and I feel like the summer is going to be over before I know it. So, even though I don’t feel prepared I’m going to try and stay in the moment and enjoy the time with the kids. I know I’ll eventually build a bucket list with them so for now I’ll relish the lazier mornings and cut myself some slack.

Enjoy my Monthly Take!

Kate's Monthly Take - June 2019

Mood

  • Exhausted. Pure Exhaustion.

Currently Coveting

Favorite Product

  • I’ve always wanted longer and fuller eyelashes constantly testing out new mascaras trying to find “the one” to make my stubby eyelashes look amazing (at this point I settle for looking awake). Eyelash extensions have always fascinated yet terrified me. The time commitment, cost and the fear of losing any existing lashes have kept me away. Enter, RevitaLash Eyelash Conditioner. My mom introduced me to the product and after three months of using it my eyelashes look so much fuller! It may require me to use the product for years in order to maintain the results but all in it’s a less expensive and less time consuming!

Design Pick

  • I was reading the most recent issue of House Beautiful and I came across the fiber sculpturess, Mandi Smethells who makes the most amazing fiber rainbows and sells them on Etsy. I am in LOVE with them! This one with pom poms is my favorite and would be perfect in a girls bedroom or in some sort of vignette with other mixed media.

What I'm Reading

  • I just read When Life Gives You Lululemons and my younger self would have loved it but I was entirely dissapointed in the subject matter. On the complete opposite spectrum, I’ve now started a summer book club at work and we’re reading a sci fi thriller called, Recursion. It’s supposed to be captivating - hopefully, I’ll be able to keep up!

What I’m Listening To

What We're Reading the Kids

  • The kids are in a Summer Enrichment Camp this week learning all about Sharks so we’re reading Ocean themed tombs this week. Smart About Sharks!, Captain Starfish and Manfish are all on the bedtime rotation and they’re certainly teaching me a thing or two.

Instagram Handle

  • Katie Armour (katieconsiders.com formerly the Neo-Trad) is one of my favorites to follow for design, wardrobe and book recommendations. I receive her newsletter and appreciate the quick bits of information as I often don’t have much time to read especially in the morning but it’s chock full of colorful yet classic recommendations that I often explore.

Guilty Pleasure

  • I’ve watched the first two seasons and now that the third has been released I’ve been binge watching Jessica Jones on Netflix, far too late into the evening. I can certainly relate to episode three.

I Need A Vacation

  • This time of year I feel like the East Coast is calling. Social media is brutal that way - there are so many beautiful pictures of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard each and every day. The Wauwinet is full of charm and would be perfect for a long weekend, if only I could get over my fear of small planes.
